Metro Vancouver drivers may soon be paying a little less to fill up their tank.

Gas prices dropped three cents per litre Wednesday night and they are expected to fall further.

Prices in Metro Vancouver were hovering at around $1.20 per litre Thursday and are set to drop below $1.16 Friday.

The drop comes after problems at a Washington state refinery were resolved.

Although it will be a bit cheaper to fill up, analyst Dan McTeague of GasBuddy.com says Canadian drivers are still paying more than their neighbours south of the border and that’s resulting in a huge loss for consumers.

“The premium being paid is the result of a lack of transparency by the Canadian government,” McTeague said.
