WINNIPEG — Police were on scene near St. Vital Bridge following an ice rescue on the Red River early Thursday morning.

One man was rushed to hospital in critical condition around 3:30 a.m. after emergency personnel found him on the ice suffering from apparent injuries sustained after falling from the bridge.

The 24-year-old later died in hospital from his injuries.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
