Double-homicide in Sheet Harbour added to unsolved crimes reward program

HALIFAX – Investigators are stepping up their efforts to gather information about a pair of homicides that occurred in Sheet Harbour, N.S. three years ago.

The bodies of Matthew Hebb and Earle Stewart were found inside a burned building on Highway 374 on Dec. 12, 2012.

On Tuesday, the case was added to the provincial government’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, with up to $150,000 being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for the deaths.

“These families deserve answers,” said Justice Minister Diana Whalen said in a statement. “I urge anyone with information about these tragic deaths to please come forward and assist police in their investigation.”

Police say they believe there are people with information that could help the investigation.

Anybody with information can call 1-888-710-9090, and may be asked to testify in court.
