BRUSSELS – Belgian police have opened an investigation into media reports that two policewomen and army troops deployed to Brussels to beef up security were involved in an orgy in a police headquarters in November.

The sensational tabloid coverage has triggered a public relations mess for the Belgian military and police. Police spokeswoman Caroline Vervaet said Thursday that soldiers were being housed at the Ganshoren police headquarters, but that for now little else is known for certain.

She says an internal police investigation has begun.

Vervaet adds that, “for now, it’s just rumours spread by certain newspapers.”

Since the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, Belgian soldiers have been brought to Brussels to deter anything similar from happening there.
