Sgt. Paul Hayes says a passerby noticed smoke coming out of the barn and let out several horses, which remain on the property.

He says it’s not known whether all the horses got out but there have not been any reports of injured animals at this time.

RCMP expect the road around the property to remain closed for several hours as crews ensure the fire has been fully extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
