CALGARY – If you registered in advance for any city recreation programs next year or rented any facility space, you could be getting a little money back.
Winter registration for programs like fitness, swimming or indoor gym time started Nov. 23 and thousands of people signed up.
The rates and user fees were supposed to increase a little for 2016 but on Dec. 14, Calgary City Council voted to reverse those increases and freeze rates at 2015 levels.

According to Heather Cowie, a manager with the Recreation Department, anyone who registered is entitled to get some money back.
“An email will be sent to all customers who this affected by next week, indicating that a credit will be put on their account or if they so desire we can issue a refund.”
Cowie said the refunds will work out to be about $2 on average per program, so it’s not a lot of money per person.
But she says about 10,000 people registered in advance so it will take some time to process all of the overpayments.
