VANCOUVER – Finning International Inc. (TSX:FTT), the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer, has a won a seven-year mining equipment and service contract with U.K.-based Hargreaves Services plc worth about $96 million.
The announcement by Vancouver-based Finning is the first “shovel deal” since the Jan. 18 announcement that Finning would acquire from Caterpillar the distribution and support business formerly operated by Bucyrus in portions of South America and Western Canada and in the United Kingdom.

Finning will supply Hargreaves with a new fleet of Caterpillar equipment, including four new Cat 6030 hydraulic excavators and 19 off-highway 777 trucks for use at the Tower Colliery open cast mine in south Wales.
The equipment is scheduled to be delivered in 2012.
‘”Since we signed the deal with Caterpillar for the former Bucyrus distribution business, we have grown our mining strategic sales and operational team to deliver the highest level of support and service to our mining customers across the U.K. and Ireland,” Neil Dickinson, managing director of Finning UK & Ireland, said in a release.
Finning, with operations in Western Canada, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay, as well as in the United Kingdom and Ireland, sells, rents and services equipment and engines.
