TORONTO – American designer Tory Burch, whose growing fashion empire was first built with tunics and flats, has made her initial foray into Canada by opening her first boutique at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
The iconic orange lacquer doors of the 2,500 square foot store open into an accessories room. The decor mixes traditional and new design elements, similar to Burch’s signature store in Soho, adding a taste of the stylish New York City district in Toronto.

Burch’s celebrity clients include Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey, who endorsed Burch in 2005, a year after she created her company.
This new store opening is a sign that the retail landscape is getting more and more competitive with international brands setting up shop and investing in Canada. This means Canadians hungry for specialized brands do not have to go south to order merchandise seen in magazines.
Burch’s ready-to-wear collection as well as various accessories from eyewear, jewelry and handbags will be housed at the store, adding an expanded offering compared to Holt Renfrew, where the brand is also stocked.
For shopping fiends out there, it simply means Toronto’s access into the fashion and retail industry is growing and turning into a global enterprise.
The company plans to add more stores across Canada in the next year.
