WATCH: Firefighter survives leap from burning building after catching fire

Shocking video out of China shows the moment a firefighter was forced to leap from the window of a burning building – after being set alight himself.

CCTV News reports that the fire broke out at the Hubei Yung City Tianjiao Community Building in China’s Hubei Province last Thursday.

While battling the blaze, a firefighter became trapped by the fast-moving blaze on the second floor.

Amateur video captured the intense race against time, as firefighters attempted to get a hose up to their trapped compatriot while shocked onlookers watched.

According to the Daily Mirror, people can be heard shouting “Come down! Come down!” as the flames inch closer to the trapped firefighter.

Eventually, the man’s situation becomes dire as the flames reach him – and his suit catches fire.

With no other choice, the firefighter makes a desperate lunge for a nearby drain pipe, only partially grabbing it before falling to the ground below.

Despite catching fire and jumping from a tall window, CCTV reports the man suffered only minor injuries.

No one was killed in Thursday’s fire. Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
