White House invaded by Stormtroopers

Has the White House joined the dark side? Star Wars fever hit the White House on Friday as Press Secretary Josh Earnest was flanked by two Stormtroopers and R2-D2 during a briefing.

The iconic characters appeared as the White House teamed up with Disney to provide a special screening of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Gold Star military families at the White House family theatre.

Gold Star Families for Peace is an organization for families who have lost relatives in military combat.

R2-D2 appeared to have limited movement in the briefing room’s cozy confines as a chair and a step got in the droid’s way. But the resilient robot appeared to win over the press gathered in the room by putting on quite the display with music, lights and sounds only R2-D2 can do.

U.S. President Barack Obama concluded his year end speech by saying, “okay everybody, I gotta get to Star Wars.”
