In advance of Mental Health Awareness Week, over 17,000 Canadians have taken the pledge of support for mental health.
Since its launch April 2, Not Myself Today, presented by Partners for Mental Health, has encouraged Canadians from coast-to-coast to pledge their support of mental health. It’s part of an effort to help Canadians learn more about mental health issues and change the way we think about and act towards mental health problems.
“We are thrilled with the amount of support and number of pledges we have gained over the past 4-weeks,” says Partners for Mental Health President, Jeff Moat. “Canadians have truly come together to support mental health in our country and we hope that government and health institutions will acknowledge the statement we are making throughout this campaign and make a significant change to mental health treatment, support services, research and funding.”
Since the launch, 20,798 pledges have been made across the country and organizers are positive this number will only grow as the campaign continues to unfold.

Partners for Mental Health is a national charitable organization committed to creating a new state of mind in Canada as it relates to mental health.
Events aimed to bring communities together and demonstrate that Canadians are not accepting the stigmas around mental health, took place across the country on the Day of Action, April 30th. Through the Not Myself Today campaign, over 400 volunteers have come forward to advocate for an improved mental health system.
The campaign will continue for a time. Canadians are invited to take the pledge, pin their mood to a virtual map of Canada and post videos, audio recordings or short essays online about their own personal experiences with mental health at notmyselftoday.ca until May 13. You can also join the conversation by connecting with Partners for Mental Health and Not Myself Today on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest.
