Grade 3 students collect socks for Edmonton’s homeless

The reason is pretty simple according to grade 3 student Ryden Schneider: “They don’t have as many things as we do and they’re not as lucky as us.”

Schneider is one of dozens of students at Duggan Elementary School who have spent the past two weeks working hard collecting socks and money for Edmonton’s less fortunate.

The school has collected 719 pairs of socks and over $350, that’s triple the goal they started with.

“When you just see their little hearts and the excitement on their little faces and to think that they are really truly making a difference for someone this winter,” said Katherine Kauffeldt, grade 3 teacher at Duggan Elementary.

The grade 3 class delivered the items to Boyle Street Monday. They also made cards and handed out angel pins with the socks, which are in high demand this time of year.
