CALGARY – One hundred people were evacuated from an area in Calgary’s northeast Thursday afternoon due to a propane leak.
Calgary fire crews responded to an intersection in Bridgeland at about 2:20 p.m. for a report of a truck leaking propane.
Fire officials said the truck was carrying a large propane tank used to fill smaller tanks on a construction site at 9 Street N.E. Firefighters determined the leak came from the transfer pump on the truck.

“The emergency shutdown was activated and the leak was substantially slowed,” fire officials said in a release.
The hazmat team monitored air in the vicinity and let evacuees back after it was deemed safe after about half an hour.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews will stay on site until the leak is completely stopped and repaired.
