Truck driver’s disappearance ‘worst nightmare’ for family

SASKATOON – The family of a missing Saskatoon woman isn’t giving up hope, despite not seeing 51-year-old Sheree Fertuck in over three days. Her mother, Juliann Sorotski, knew something was wrong when Fertuck didn’t return to the family farm east of Kenaston Monday night.

“My gut feeling right away was that she’d been abducted and taken away somewhere,” Sorotski said.

The concerned mother went to the nearby gravel pit, where Fertuck makes a living transporting gravel by semi-truck for the family business.

Sorotski spotted the truck, but her daughter was nowhere to be seen.

“I think I did see that her cell phone was there and her jacket was there. There was no evidence of any kind of a struggle. The gravel wasn’t disturbed or anything like that.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Her mother said Fertuck didn’t seem any different before she disappeared. She made no mention of any new friends or other people in her life.

“It’s the worst nightmare that I’ve ever had in my entire lifetime,” Sorotski said.
