WINNIPEG — You can now visit Volga the Amur tiger at the Assiniobine Park Zoo.
The two-year-old female tiger was transferred to Winnipeg from Granby Zoo in Quebec as part of the Species Survival Plan Program. The program is a joint effort between multiple zoos around the globe to maintain and conserve endangered animals.

“Volga is a very healthy and happy tiger, and she’s adjusted quite well to her new habitat,” Gary Lunsford, Head of Zoological Operations said in a release. He also said the tigers are particularly active in the winter. For more information on admission and times you can visit the zoo’s website here.
Also as part of the Species Survival Plan Program, one of the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s two-year-old snow leopard cubs, Kovo will be moving to a zoological facility in Japan. You can still see him until he leaves early next week.
