Nardwuar, eccentric ’90s music personality, suffers stroke at party

This cryptic message was posted to his official Twitter on Dec. 9:

In the days leading up to this medical event, everything seemed to be fine with the Vancouver-based journalist. He was posting interviews to his Twitter with his trademark “Doot Doo!” comment, referring to the way he’d always sign off with whomever he was interviewing. Nothing seemed amiss, and the stroke comes as a big surprise to his fans.

The Georgia Strait is reporting that Nardwuar is recovering in Vancouver General Hospital, and no more details were made available. Nardwuar suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999, but recovered after surgery.

Nardwuar (real name: John Ruskin), 47, is also a musician; he’s the lead singer and keyboardist for The Evaporators, and plays in Three Goblins.
