Barnhart to head up Saskatoon’s freedom of information program

SASKATOON – The City of Saskatoon want to put Dr. Gordon Barnhart in charge of its freedom of information program. In a report to council, officials want to make Barnhart head of freedom of information and privacy protection.

It would be a one-year term starting on Jan. 1, 2016, with an annual retainer of $12,000 provided the appointment is approved on Monday.

Barnhart was most recently acting president at the University of Saskatchewan.

He was previously Saskatchewan’s lieutenant-governor and prior to that, spent five years in Ottawa as Clerk to the Senate.
