The Golden Globe Awards 2016 nominees were announced on Thursday morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The Golden Globes honour the year’s best in film and TV, split into the genres of comedy (or musical) and drama. Celebrity announcers were actors Angela Bassett, America Ferrera, Chloë Grace Moretz and Dennis Quaid.
Shoo-ins for movie nominees included Best Actor nods for Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant and Bryan Cranston in Trumbo, along with Best Actress nominations for Cate Blanchett in Carol and Brie Larson in Room. Some standout nominees include Sylvester Stallone for Creed and Amy Schumer for Trainwreck.

As for TV, it was expected that Mad Men (along with lead actor Jon Hamm) would be taking home the hardware this year, since the show has now ended its run. Surprisingly, the show itself was not nominated, and only Hamm got any recognition. Some standout nominees here include Christian Slater and Rami Malek for Mr. Robot, and Lady Gaga for American Horror Story: Hotel. Yesterday’s SAG Award nominations were a pretty good foreshadowing of the Globe nominees.

Denzel Washington will be receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award this year. Jamie Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, will be Miss Golden Globe.
