York police say kibble laced with antifreeze killed a dog in Vaughan last month. York Regional Police

TORONTO – York Regional Police confirm kibble laced with antifreeze killed a beagle-pug mix in Vaughan last month.

Police said the owner and his dog Coca were out for a walk on Nov. 25 on Shawbridge Boulevard in the area of Gidleigh Park Crescent when the animal stopped and began eating something next to a mailbox.

After returning home, the dog became violently ill and was taken to a veterinarian where it was diagnosed with glycol (antifreeze) poisoning.

Several days later the six-and-a-half-old dog was in such a bad condition that it needed to be euthanized.
