TORONTO – The father of a missing 11-year-old Markham boy who was located safe Thursday morning said his son ran away from home over an argument about his studying habits.
“The argument was about studying. The way to study,” said Herman Cho in an interview with Global News.
Police were notified of Tidus Cho’s disappearance on Wednesday evening after the family conducted a search of their own.
“We spent two hours, two and a half hours to find him. We cannot find him,” said Cho.
York Regional Police said the child was reported missing after he had a fight with his parents around 7:30 p.m. at the family’s home near Bur Oak Avenue and William Grant Road.

Police said the child was found by an officer on patrol around 7 a.m.
Tidus told Global News he was awake all night and had made it all the way to Markville Mall near McCowan Road and Highway 7 before he was found.
“I saw the police car and then I wanted to head back home,” said Tidus. “The police officer told me to get in the car. He drove me back.”
Tidus’ father said his son looked tired but is otherwise healthy.
“I look at his face. He feels so tired. I want him to get some sleep,” he said.
