UPDATE: All advisories mentioned in this story have ended

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Saskatoon and area. The agency says freezing rain followed by snow is possible Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday.

The culprit is a low pressure system moving into Saskatchewan courtesy of cold air damming over the Rockies. Officials say it is expected to bring an area of freezing rain and snow to central regions of the province.

The current projection shows the main band of freezing rain is expected from North Battleford to just north of Saskatoon. A couple of millimeters of freezing rain could fall, making for slippery conditions.

Areas north of the band of freezing rain will see snow while rain will fall in those areas to the south.

As the low moves through the province, the freezing rain is expected to change to snow.

Environment Canada officials said warnings are expected to be issued later Tuesday as the intensity and track of the low becomes clearer.
