A young female cougar was found dead in a coyote trap just south of Boissevain, Manitoba. She was discovered two weeks ago.
Manitoba Conservation said it’s possible she wandered up from North Dakota where people are allowed to have the wild animals as pets.
The cougar found dead in the coyote trap is the fifth cougar found trapped in Manitoba in the past 11 years. The cougar population in the province is on the rise as the cats are wandering north from North Dakota.
