PINCOURT – An angry parent of two students at Edgewater Elementary School in Pincourt is circulating an online petition in an effort to get the town to change its parking rules.
“It’s a pain in the butt,” said Ruth Frizzell, who launched the petition.
For years, the rules allowed parents to stop along Cardinal Léger Blvd. or 8th Ave. to pick up or drop off children at the school.
That apparently created hazards as drivers zipped past children and parents on their way in and out of the drop-off zone.
Two weeks ago, the town prohibited any stopping along Cardinal Léger Blvd., and scotched stops during pick-up and drop-off hours on 8th Ave.

Frizzell told Global News the trek from legal parking to the school entrance is too far, especially during a morning rush.
Town officials said they’re working on a solution.
School officials told Global News the problem is largely due to being unable to find a balance between the spirit and letter of the law, saying parents largely ignore signs that are up anyway.
