Two in hospital after downtown Montreal stabbing

MONTREAL – Police are searching for a suspect after two men were stabbed early Friday morning in downtown Montreal.

It happened around 1 a.m. at the corner of Ste. Catherine St. and Hôtel de Ville Ave. after three men started fighting.

“One victim, aged 41, was stabbed in the upper body with a sharp object,” said André Leclerc with Montreal police.

“He is in stable, but still serious condition. We will continue to monitor him.”

The second man, aged 34, was stabbed in the leg.

“We do not fear for his life,” said Leclerc.

Police are looking for the suspect, who fled shortly after the incident.

Investigators are on the scene and have interviewed several witnesses.
