Calgary police request help in solving Highland Park murder

The Calgary Police Service is asking Centre Street commuters to try to remember if they saw anything suspicious on their way into work on the morning of Wednesday Sept. 30.

A man was found outside of a residence north of Centre Street and 40 Avenue at around 9 a.m. that day. The man had been stabbed multiple times and died shortly after.

The victim was 56-year-old Frank Burton. Burton had a history of mental illness that had historically caused him to have confrontations with people. Police believe it is possible that his illness contributed to the assault.

Police are releasing more details about exactly where the crime took place, in hopes of gathering more information from the public. The assault took place at the side entrance of a pink and white house that is on the 4200 block of Centre Street N. They believe the attack would have been visible from the street and also that traffic would have been busy since it was the end of the morning rush hour.
