UPDATE: Fire crews called to massive blaze at Winnipeg autobody shop

WATCH: Fire crews battle blaze at autobody shop in Fort Rouge Tuesday morning.

WINNIPEG — Fire crews continue to battle a blaze that broke out at an autobody company near Pembina Highway Monday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, close to 20 emergency vehicles were dispatched to a collision centre on the 600 block of Lorette Avenue near Pembina Highway by Grant Avenue.

The company, J Max Auto Service, had smoke and flames billowing from the building. Fire crews were still on scene Tuesday afternoon and told Global News there are still hot spots they can’t get to given the size and shape of the building.

Water has flooded parts of the area near Pembina Highway due to the fire fighting efforts to put out the blaze.

Winnipeg police say the curb lane northbound Pembina at Lorette is blocked because of the blaze. Water has also flooded the area, which is a result of crews trying to battle the blaze throughout the night and morning.

The cause is not known at this time and no injuries were reported. A complete cost of the damage is unknown but the building is being called a complete write off.
