UPDATED: One woman dead in collision that closes Highway 2 north of Moose Jaw

MOOSE JAW – One woman is dead and two others were transported to Moose Jaw Hospital for minor non-life threatening injuries after a Sunday evening vehicle collision.

Moose Jaw RCMP say both the Moose Jaw Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to the two vehicle collision on Highway 2, five kilometres north of the city at approximately 4:36 p.m.

According to police, an 80-year-old woman from Moose Jaw was driving a four-door Sunfire car south bound on Highway 2. The driver then crossed the centre line, colliding head on with a Titan crew cab truck.

The  80-year-old woman was found deceased on scene upon arrival. She was the lone occupant of the car. Police are not releasing the name of the woman at this time.

Two others, one male and one female, were transported to Moose Jaw Hospital. Police say they were the occupants of the truck.

Both lanes of Highway 2 were closed for approximately six hours after the collision.

Police say weather and road conditions were good at the time of the collision and is not believed to be a factor.
