Peel Police arrest Marcus Alexis on Canada wide warrant

TORONTO – Peel police executed a Canada wide warrant and have arrested Marcus Alexis in connection to the region’s sixth murder of 2011.

Homicide officers, with the assistance of the Toronto Police, made the arrest of the 19-year-old Mississauga resident late this afternoon in North York.

This murder happened on Saturday, April 16, 2011, when the victim, 28-year-old Kearn Nedd, was shot and killed trying to help in catching one of two suspects committing an armed robbery at a poker tournament.

The incident took place in broad daylight in front of over 130 people at the Rozz Banquet Hall at 200 Advance Boulevard in Brampton.

Alexis has been charged with second degree murder and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Saturday April 21, 2012 for a bail hearing.
