MIRAMICHI, N.B. – Police are investigating the death of a woman who was hit by a Via Rail passenger train in northern New Brunswick.
Deputy Chief Brian Cummings of Miramichi police says the 51-year-old woman was hit at about 6:50 p.m. Wednesday.

He says the train had just stopped in the community to pick up passengers and was heading to Montreal when the incident occurred.
Via Rail spokesman Maxime Dupont-Demers says 51 passengers were on the train at the time.
