11-year-old asks for ‘Grand Theft Auto V,’ but not for ‘the hookers’

For most children who celebrate Christmas, sending a wish list to Santa is an annual tradition.

This year, 11-year-old Rory Smith from Cavan, Ireland wrote a long letter which included a whole host of toys ranging from Dr. Who themed items to the notoriously violent video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Rory’s mother Cathy Smith told popular Irish talk radio show The Ryan Tubridy Show that her son heard about the game from his friends’ older siblings and had begged his parents for months to buy it.

“He’s absolute mad on driving cars and he’s brilliant at it,” she said.

Knowing that it was not age-appropriate for their son, his parents stood firm and told him “no.”

“In short, he decided to try his luck with Santa, hoping that Santa would give him what mommy and daddy wouldn’t,” she said.

In a comment next to the bullet point “GTA5,” Rory explains:

Rory’s sister Olivia snapped a photo of the wish list and sent it into the radio show with his permission.

Cathy said her son has Asperger Syndrome, which she said makes him “very literal and very honest.”

“He’s often giving us the giggles because he just comes out with stuff that the rest of us would think but wouldn’t necessarily say,” she said. “In our house the Asperger is celebrated. He thinks differently. It’s wonderful!”

No word yet on whether Santa will be delivering GTAV to Rory this holiday season.
