Sinkhole closes Port Coquitlam on-ramp

A warning for drivers in Port Coquitlam this morning – an on-ramp is closed because of a sinkhole.

A water main break caused the sinkhole to open. It is about 1.5 metres deep.

Traffic is affected eastbound along Lougheed Highway.

The on-ramp connects to the Mary Hill Bypass on it’s not far from the Pitt River Bridge.

There is no word yet on when the on-ramp will re-open.

On Friday, a sinkhole opened up in Burnaby under the wheels of a transit bus. That stretch of road is still closed.
