Highway 40 is back to single lane alternating traffic after a rock slide 25 kilometres north of Lillooet this morning.

The road isn’t heavily used, but it is the main route to the communities of Bralorne and Gold Bridge.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

RCMP say nobody was injured in the slide.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours while the Ministry of Transportation conducted a technical assessment of the slide area.

It’s not known when the rock slide will be fully cleared, and the highway full reopened.
