Some remarkable images were sent in to us today of orcas playing in the Strait of Georgia.

The photos were taken on Remembrance Day, just off the tip of Saturna Island. At least 10 transient whales were seen frolicking together, which is unusual behaviour for the creatures as they usually travel in small pods of three or four.

Washington State photographer Chris Teren took the photos and says the orcas were breaching over and over, slapping their tails and feeding.

Teren called it one of the best encounters of his life.
