Transit bus stuck in sinkhole in Burnaby

A Transit bus has now been towed away after becoming stuck in a sinkhole on Production Way, between Broadway and Eastlake Drive in Burnaby.

The City of Burnaby’s engineering department says the section of road will be closed into next week while they do repairs.

There appears to be another hole a short distance from the bus and one of the workers in the building nearby said they had recently fixed a hole in the same area.

It is not known how many people were on the bus at the time this sinkhole opened up, but the bus was heading to Simon Fraser University.

Global News reporter Ted Field, said the rear wheels of the bus were hanging over the edge of the sinkhole, which is about 10 feet long and about six feet deep.

It appears that the bumper prevented the bus from sinking in further.
