Brampton home destroyed by fire overnight

TORONTO – Several homes in a Brampton neighbourhood had to be evacuated following a large fire Wednesday night.

Fire crews responded to the call around 10:45 p.m. to find a home on Binder Twine Trail completed engulfed in flames.

Transit buses were called in to shelter nearby residents as an evacuation order was issued. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said one home is completely destroyed while another also suffered damages.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but police suspect it may have been a result of fireworks.

“We know that fireworks were being set off just in front of that residence prior to the fire being started,” said Const. George Tudos.

“At this point there is no connection as to whether the fireworks themselves started the fire.”
