Two people killed in head-on collision north of Swan River

A fatal head-on collision has claimed the lives of two women.

Swan River RCMP said the incident happened Friday afternoon, shortly before 2:30.

Officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash, between a semi truck and a pickup, approximately 4 km north of Swan River on Highway 10, near road 216 North.

The 52-year-old driver of the pickup and her 24-year-old passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene.

They were from Bowsman, Man. and Sturgis, Saskatchewan, respectively.

The other driver. 52-year-old from Cowan, Man., was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP have not confirmed any contributing factors to the collision at this point but said traffic analysts are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
