EDMONTON – It’s a large and green campaign promise from the Alberta Liberals.
Liberal Leader Raj Sherman is promising a $900 million a year boost to green transportation projects in the province.
He promises Edmonton and Calgary would each receive $300 million a year.
The money would come from a new carbon levy based on actual emissions.
The Liberals say the levy would bring in $1.8 billion in new revenues for the province.
Half would go to municipalities, while the other half would be returned to polluters to encourage them to invest in green technology.
