B.C.’s newest millionaires are a foursome from the Fraser Valley, and they found out they had won while watching Global’s Morning News on Saturday.
Ian McMurtrie, Wayne Miller, Tom Moryson and Joe Scully have been buying lottery tickets together for a couple of years, and three have known each other for 50 years.
They purchased their winning ticket at the Otter Co-Op in Abbotsford for the April 6th LOTTO MAX draw.

“My wife had a look on her face and she said somebody in Abbotsford had won the Lotto Max,” said McMurtrie.
After checking their numbers several times, McMurtrie said he and his wife began screaming and collapsed on the floor. McMurtrie then signed all four winners’ names on the back of the ticket and started calling his friends with the exciting news.
“I thought it’s the Master’s weekend and they’re probably trying to get me to come over and watch golf and have a few beers,” said Scully, “so I hung up the phone.”
He said an email copy of the winning ticket finally helped reality set in.
All four men are avid golf fans, so with their winnings they plan to travel to Pebble Beach and St. Andrews to golf, and then take a trip to Augusta, GA, for next year’s Masters tournament.
