Teen suspects in Outaouais bomb scares linked to Quebec threats

MONTREAL –  The four minors arrested in relation to two bomb scares in Outaouais have been linked to the threats in 71 schools across Quebec, said the Sûreté du Québec.

The individuals, aged 16 to 17, are from Wakefield, Chelsea and Ange-Gardien and appeared in Gatineau court Wednesday.

The teens originally faced charges of mischief in relation to the Outaouais threats, but now face additional charges of conspiracy, providing false information to police, uttering threats and intent to injure.

Officers were unable to say what the motive was; the teens were released to their parents under strict conditions.

Their next court appearance is on Thursday, Nov. 26.

Schools across the province were affected by Tuesday’s province-wide bomb threats including in Dorval, Beaconsfield, Ville Saint-Laurent, Ahuntsic and Rivière-des-Prairies.

No explosives were found.
