RCMP and Parkland Search and Rescue Society are searching for a missing first nations man from the Enoch Cree community.
Officers say the last communication anyone had with 56 year old Carl Gene Ward was on March 14.
“There have been two unconfirmed sightings since that time but because we haven’t been able to confirm them we are quite concerned for his safety,” says Corporal Colette Zazulak.
A command post was set up in front of the Enoch Fire Department Tuesday. 40 people including volunteers and community members set out on foot and all-terrain vehicles to search the area between Ward’s home and the reserve.

“The community from Enoch Cree Nation has been very anxious to find Mr. Ward. They’re here helping today, they know the terrain, they’re helping guide us, as well in our efforts to find him,” says Zazulak.
Search manager from Parkland Search and Rescue, Ian Macvittie, says the search is tough because they don’t really know where to start.
“The hardest part for us is not having an exact last known position of the missing subject,” he explains.
Zazulak says Ward’s cell phone hasn’t been used, and his bank account hasn’t been accessed in the last few weeks, which is also a concern.
Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers or Spruce Grove or Stony Plain RCMP.
