Dieppe businessman offers $5,000 reward to catch cow thieves

DIEPPE, N.B. – A Dieppe businessman is offering a $5,000 reward to catch who is responsible for stealing his full-size fibreglass cow.

Bernard Cain says the cow was stolen sometime after 2 a.m. Saturday morning. He owns Cain Ltd.,  a tack shop in Dieppe.

He says the cow was an important part of his business because he would rent out the cow to businesses and agricultural fairs.

“I’d offer a reward of $5,000 for the arrest and conviction of the people who stole the cow,” he said.

The cow is white with black patches. Cain says a white patch over it’s right eye sets it apart from other fibreglass cows.

He’s been running his business for over 50 years and in that time, he’s helped many people in the community.

Priscilla Gillcash runs Ammon Stables. She says Cain deserves more respect.

“He’s been good to people and I really don’t think these people understood what they were doing,” she said.

Cain has reported the theft to police. However, police say they have no leads in the investigation at this time.
