REGINA – Victoria Park was ground zero for protesters Sunday, as they gathered in opposition of Israel’s actions and stood in support of the Palestinian people.
Phrases such as “Free Palestine” and “Occupation is a crime” were chanted by protesters as the crowd grew to a few dozen people.
They marched along downtown streets waiving Palestinian and Canadian flags, calling for peace in the Middle East.
While small in size, the organizer of the rally said he hopes their concerns are heard across the country.

“We’re here to deliver a message for our new prime minister to show our solidarity to the Palestinian people and Syria as well… We’re here just to spread the message to the society here that what is going on there is a violence to the human rights,” said Malek Daoud.
A variety of people marched together including young families and people of various backgrounds. One protester says she’s hopeful for the future.
“A lot of communities in Regina are very concerned about this and want to give a very strong response to what continues to happen and it’s been happening for decades and decades and I think it’s always important to show your support,” explained Rebecca Granovsky-Larsen.
While the rally only lasted 45 minutes, supporters felt it was effective.
