Judge to rule if man accused of killing wife before shooting self fit for trial

BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – A Nova Scotia judge is expected to render a decision Tuesday on whether a man accused of fatally shooting his wife before turning the gun on himself is fit to stand trial.

Wayne Eisnor is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2010 shooting death of Tina Eisnor in a New Germany, N.S., parking lot.

The 49-year-old man was deemed unfit to stand trial in October 2010 because of a mental impairment caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

However, during a two-day fitness hearing in Bridgewater last month, Crown lawyer Alonzo Wright argued Eisnor’s condition has improved significantly since the shooting.
