HALIFAX – In a move to be streamlined in a competitive industry, Scotiabank is moving three of its departments to Toronto from Halifax.
In a statement from Scotiabank, the company said they’d spoken to their employees about their move to consolidate and close some of their Shared Services Group, Adjudication Centres of Expertise (ACE) and Mortgage Operations and Sales Effectiveness(MOSE) locations over the next two years. It’s a move they say help bring people together into two new technology-enhanced hubs with more resources.
The move comes from the fact that much of customer’s banking is now done digitally. The centres have been responsible for mostly paper transactions.
Scotiabank said the decisions weren’t made lightly, and that the bank maintains it will treat employees with respect and fairness during the change.
The statement said the bank would work with employees to to see if they could find them other job opportunities at the bank, meaning they can’t say many total jobs will be impacted by the changes.
Scotiabank has recently been developing a Digital Factory that will improve customer service, and will make for 350 top technology jobs.
The statement also read that Scotiabank is trying to increase the use of technology, shorten turn around times and other initiatives to better customer service.
