HALIFAX — The installation of a new deck on Angus L. Macdonald Bridge has led to a couple of literal bumps on the road, but Halifax Harbour Bridges promises a fix is on the way.
The three-inch bumps, which have resulted in a significant traffic delays, are caused by transition plates connecting the deck to the bridge.
The new deck hangs lower because of the construction equipment on and hanging below it.
“This is our worst-case scenario for the slope on that deck segment,” said Eppell.
According to Steve Snider, general manager and CEO of Halifax Harbour Bridges, a contractor assessed the bump on Monday, then added asphalt to smooth out the bump the next day.
The organization has received “about five or six calls so far” regarding damage to exhaust systems; Snider said he believes potential damage costs will be covered by the organization.
Snider said he has requested to speak with Halifax Transit, which has raised concerns about the bump.
