Harjit Sajjan has been elected in the riding of Vancouver South.
Sajjan took 48.8 per cent of the vote, beating out Tory incumbent Wai Young, who finished with 33.9 per cent.
Amandeep Nijjar of the NDP finished third with 14 per cent.
In the last election, Young defeated three-term Liberal MP and former B.C. Premier Ujjal Dosanjh by 8.7 per cent.
Historically considered a swing seat, Vancouver South had a Liberal MP from 1962 to 1972 and 1993 to 2011, and Progressive Conservative MP John Allen Fraser from 1972 to 1993.
