Daffodil campaign launches in the Okanagan

The Canadian Cancer Society has launched its annual daffodil campaign in the Okanagan.

Every April, Canadians are encouraged to wear a daffodil pin to show their support to those fighting the disease.

“The daffodil pin has become part of a movement in Canada where if you’re going through the cancer journey, you know you’re not alone,” said Barb Kaminsky, CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society for the B.C. and Yukon Division.

B.C. has the lowest rates of cancer in all of Canada but the number of British Columbians diagnosed with cancer is still staggering.

“In B.C. each year 22,000 people will be newly diagnosed with cancer and a little over 9,000 of those people will eventually die,” said Kaminsky.

Daffodil pins are available at businesses throughout the Okanagan. Everyone is encouraged to make a donation and wear the pin for the month of April.
