Federal Election 2015

It’s the story that has been dominating the news this weekend as all three federal leaders are into their last push to earn votes.

The longest election campaign in Canadian history is ending with the Liberals pulling into the lead in the polls, earning Justin Trudeau that ever important momentum heading into Monday’s vote.

Global Montreal’s Senior Anchor Jamie Orchard speaks to Montreal political analyst Harold Chorney to talk about those polls and whether or not they really make a difference.


Moisson Montreal

Montreal’s Moisson Montreal became a leader in Canada back in 2013 when they created the first ever food recovery program in supermarkets.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The idea was to provide a unique and sustainable solution to the problem of food insecurity and waste.

That’s when Moisson Montreal, Quebec’s largest food bank provider, reached a province-wide agreement with the Metro and Loblaws supermarket chains to recover unsold food and then distribute it to community organizations.

Live for the Cause

Sadly, very few of us will get through this life without being touched in some way by cancer.

That’s why one young Montrealer has decided to focus her fundraising efforts on fighting the horrific disease that has touched so many families.

Olivia Monton, is the young philanthropist behind Live for the Cause, a Montreal-based foundation whose unique approach to philanthropy emphasizes a focus on local and grassroots organizations and causes, where they feel they can make a tangible difference.

Revival of the old Royal Victoria Hospital

Rehearsels for the new play “Progress” are underway in Montreal.

The uniquely staged production, inside the now closed Royal Victoria Hospital is billed as an absurdist comedy paying tribute to the 122-year-legacy of the Montreal landmark.

The play tells the story of Sarah, who lands in the Vic after trying to end her life. She is the hospital’s very last patient and her fate is decided as walls begin to crumble around her.

Montreal playwright, Alyson Grant discusses her inspiration for the story.
