DORCHESTER, N.B. – Robert Lionel Hatt, an inmate in the medium-security wing at the Dorchester Penitentiary was found dead in his cell on Thursday.
When Hatt was found unresponsive in his cell, staff began performing CPR immediately and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.

At the time of his death, Hatt had been serving an indeterminate sentence since April of 2008 for failing to comply with probation and assault with a weapon.
Hatt was 54 years old.
Correctional Service Canada will review the incident, just as with any other death of an inmate.
