EDMONTON – Garnett Genuis has won the riding of Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan for the Conservatives.
Genuis previously ran unsuccessfully for the Wildrose party in the 2012 provincial election.
Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan is a new riding. The former MP for this area was Conservative Tim Uppal, who re-offered in another riding, meaning voters were able to send a new MP to Ottawa.
This was the third time independent James Ford ran in the federal election. He first ran in 2008 in protest of Uppal’s nomination for the Conservative party, and had taken about 30 per cent of the vote in each of the past two elections.
